Blackburn Castle SC Charter Dinner

The charter dinner to honour the club receiving its official charter from the governing body of the ASC will be held on Saturday 25th February 2012 ay the Pleasington Golf Club Blackburn. The event is an opportunity to meet members and guests and to celebrate the charter with the President Michael Counter.

Area Conference 2011

The annual speech and evaluation competitions are again to be held at the North Pennine Conference. The conference will take place at the Pleasington Golf Club on Sunday 6th November 2011 comencing at 10.00 am. This is an ideal opportunity to listen to some of the finest speakers from around North East Lancashire speak in a competative situation. The choice of subject is left entirely to the competator, so expect an interesting and varied mix of informative, imaginative but above all entertaining speeches.

District Seminar 2011

The Western District has oganised a Seminar open to all members. The event will be held on Suinday 16th October 2011 at the Brittania Hotel Standish commencing at 10.00am with registration. The seminar presented by John Denner, will explain how to give great video presentions within the club enviroment. This will be followed in the afternoon with a presentation and interaction on how to prepare and present innovative club meetings.

National Conference 2011 Edinburgh

The National Conference for the Association of Speakers Clubs is to be held over the weekend of 15th to the 17th April at the Marriott Hotel Edinburgh. The final of the Topics Competition will be held on Friday 15th April, the Final of the Speech Competition will be held on Saturday 16th April and the Final for the Evaluation Competition will be held on Sunday 17th April. The Annual meeting of the General Council of the Association will commence at 09.30 hours on Saturday 16th April 2011.

Evaluation Competition

The winner of this year's Clubs Evaluation Competition held on Monday 7th March was James Douglas. Malcolm Bury, a new member to to club gave the target speech entitled "A University degree is not the B all and end all". Five members had entered the competition, the winner now goes through to the North Pennine Area competition to be held in November 2011. Michael Counter was the runnerup.

North Pennine Area Conference

Competitor at the Area Conference was Phil Thompson in the Speech Competition.

Michael Counter was our candidate in the Topics and Evaluation Competition.

New President

At the Annual General Meeting held on 24th May, Paul Gore was elected as the new President for the coming year.
